I offer a complete range of services to provide expert, personalized guidance during the college search and application process.

I provide college admission counseling to students and families. I advise and support students and parents through each phase of the college admission process, from academic and extracurricular planning during the high school years, to building a college list, completing the applications and writing the essays. Centered on the belief that The Journey Begins with You…, my focus is on the individual needs and talents of students to guide them to find the best match to have a great college experience. I also partner with community-based organizations to conduct college planning workshops for students and parents.

COLLEGE PREPARATION

Planning for college can feel overwhelming; it can be hard to know where to begin. I break the planning and application process down into a series of easily managed steps, helping you to organize your college search, create a balanced list of prospective colleges, and develop a calendar for your application process. I will also help you with course planning to determine how to make the most out of your years in high school.

Based on an initial consultation, I will assess your strengths and weaknesses and recommend additional courses, tests, and/or activities to build your portfolio and maximize your chances of a successful college application process. Each student plan is personalized to reflect your individual academic goals and ambitions. My role is to learn about you and understand the vision you have for your educational future. With your own college plan we will create a pathway for you to get there!

ESSAY WRITING

Your college essay is important because it says a lot about who you are as a person. It is a personal narrative that shares your story with prospective schools; introducing your passions, skills and experiences to the admissions committee. Your essay is also your opportunity to shine. Let’s show these colleges how lucky they will be to have you!

As your personal education coach I will guide you through the essay development process. I provide you with the necessary advice to produce an exceptional essay, including topic selection, writing assistance, drafting a character statement, and conducting a final edit and review of your submission.

I will help you identify appropriate funding opportunities, including grants, merit-based scholarships, and financial aid opportunities. There are many types of funding available to you as a student, and I want to make sure you don’t miss out on any chances to fund your education. I will also review your scholarship applications before submission to avoid delays or rejections due to improperly completed forms. Together, we will make your future happen!

PARENT COACHING

The college admission process can be stressful and can put a strain on relations between parents and their children. As a parent it is difficult to understand your role in your child’s college application process. I am a mother myself so I know all too well the journey parents go through to ensure their children receive the best education possible.

I will help demystify the process, so you can clearly see ways in which you can help your child and times when it is better to step back and let your soon-to-be college student take the reins. Your child needs your guidance and support, and I can show you the best way to give it.
